19 injured in Second Line Parade shooting; suspects wanted

Only days after officials announced a major initiative to combat gang violence in New Orleans, nineteen people were injured during gunfire at a Second Line Parade. Two children are among the injured. 

The New Orleans Police Department reports that it all started shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. The shots were fired when the parade reached North Villere and Frenchman Street.

Officers saw three suspects running from the scene. One was seen running on Frenchman toward North Claiborne. He is described as a black male, approximately 18-22 years old, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jean shorts.

The victims of the shooting include 10 adult males, 7 adult females and a 10-year-old male and a 10-year-old female. Officials say most of the injuries were non life-threatening.
