15 people shot overnight in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU) — Fifteen people were shot overnight in New Orleans in four separate incidents, New Orleans police said.
The first incident happened just after midnight in the 400 block of Bourbon Street. Police told WDSU two men opened fire on one another, hitting eight people with gunfire. One of the victims died at the hospital.
A few hours later, gunfire erupted near Canal Street and University Place. Police said two men and two women were shot. One of the victims from that shooting later died. The shooting happened about 1:45 a.m. Eighth District Officers said they heard gunfire while on patrol and saw three men running from the scene.
After a foot pursuit, 24-year-old Baltiman Malcom and another man were detained. The third man managed to escape, police said. Officers found a gun at the scene. Police said the shooting escalated from an argument. Malcom was arrested on one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder. The other man was questioned and released, police said.
A third shooting happened at North Prieur and Spain streets. One person was shot.
The victim's condition wasn't immediately available.
Just before 5 a.m. Tuesday, another two people were shot in the 1200 block of Louisa Street. No word was available on their condition.
