The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s arrested a 13-year-old teen for burglary and aggravated battery on Thursday.

Around 11:45 p.m., deputies responded to a call from a resident who had caught a white male teen in the act of burglarizing their vehicle.

According to police reports, a woman went outside and saw the teen inside of their vehicle, which was parked in the driveway.

When the female yelled for her husband, the teen got out of the car and pulled an expandable baton from his waistband and hit the woman in the face.

The teen then called for another juvenile who was hiding behind the house. That juvenile went to the front of the vehicle where he stood and watched.

The woman’s husband came out and got into a brief struggle with the 13-year-old. The man was able to gain control of the situation and contacted police.

Deputies took the teen to his home and charged him for burglary and battery. They then brought him to the Florida Parish Detention Center.

The second juvenile was released to his parents.
