It’s a story NBC33 first broke right here in Baton Rouge. Now officials in Illinois are suing craigslist.com over its prostitution postings. Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart says craigslist has hundreds of ads that are just blatant solicitations for prostitution and he wants them shut down. He says the ads even target missing children and abused women, many who are having sex with strangers against their will.
Dart says, “We put another one up saying 14-year-old looking for sex. That one was never taken down, never taken down. It sat on there ‘til we took it down!”
The Sheriff’s Department says the most visited section on the Chicago craigslist website is under erotic services, drawing more than 9 million monthly views.
