MAUREPAS, La (NBC33) – Copper thefts are on the rise, and Maurepas High School is the latest victim of a recent rash of burglaries.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a crook got away with over a $1,000 worth of materials from the high school. A custodian noticed a broken window and called the authorities.

They believe this crime occurred last week, but went unnoticed until now due to the holiday schedule. They say someone broke in through a window to take materials used for the school’s shop class.

If you have any information about this crime, call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP. A reward for information is being offered.
