Cook's escape possibly an "inside job"
BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA)- Was Tuesday's escape of inmate Demond Cook outside of the Baton Rouge courthouse an "inside job?"
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's office says it's possible and they're looking into it.
Investigators say Catahoula deputies were transporting Cook to Baton Rouge from their jail.
Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says normal procedure for prisoner drop-off is to alert local authorities when that inmate arrives, and those deputies failed to do so.
EBR sheriff's deputies are working with Catahoula officials to find out why protocol wasn't followed.
