NBC33 has a consumer alert for everyone in Louisiana who may be using a certain eye drop medication for macular degeneration.

A Georgia compounding pharmacy has issued a voluntary recall for Avastin after five patients have developed serious eye infections after receiving Avastin injections.

Avastin is a cancer drug, but is used off-label to treat macular degeneration.

The company re-packaged Avastin into individual, single-use syringes and sent them to doctors' offices here, as well as Georgia, South Carolina and Indiana.

An FDA inspection of the facility raised concerns about a lack of sterility. For more on the FDA report, click here.
