6th child dies while using popular infant recliner
Harrisburg, PA (WPMT) -- It's every parent's worst nightmare.
The Federal Government issued a very serious new warning to parents about the "Nap Nanny"- after a sixth baby died while using it.
The eight-month-old girl from New Jersey suffocated after getting trapped between the Nap Nanny and a crib bumper.
This isn't a new problem; Pennsylvania-based company Baby Matters LLC originally recalled the product last year. They are no longer sold in stores. The recall included both the "Nap Nanny" and "Nap Nanny Chill" models.
Baby Matters insists the recliners are safe when used properly — and that they weren't meant to be used in cribs.
The company is now out of business, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning parents to avoid the Nap Nanny at yard sales or in online auctions.
