PAINCOURTVILLE, La (WVLA) - In Assumption Parish - some sugar cane farmers are having a tough time harvesting their crop.
It's all because of the damage caused by a well blowout near Paincourtville. It happened back in August. Since then - hundreds of acres have been damaged. Now - in the heart of the harvesting season - some farmers are out hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A farmer from the area who says damage from the well could have some of his neighbors hurting for possibly the next ten years.
We tried to get a comment from Mantle Oil about compensating damages - they were unavailable.
