Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service issued the following special statement:

UNSEASONABLY CHILLY CONDITIONS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY MORNING... THE COLD FRONT THAT MOVED THROUGH THE AREA OVERNIGHT IS BRINGING MUCH COLDER AND DRIER AIR TO SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI AND SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA TODAY AND WEDNESDAY. THE COMBINATION OF CLEAR SKIES...DRY AIR AND LIGHT WINDS WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO DIVE INTO THE MIDDLE AND UPPER 30S FOR A FEW HOURS EARLY WEDNESDAY.

Tonight, temperatures will drop pretty quickly into the middle 30's, challenging record low temperatures for our area. If you have tropical plants or plants that are sensitive to cold temperatures, it would be wise to cover them or move them inside tonight.
