NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The head of the Consumer Product Safety
Commission says a probe into allegedly defective Chinese drywall is
alive and well.
Commission head Inez Tenenbaum told congressmen on Thursday that
her agency is "pouring a record amount of money and manpower
toward the goal of helping affected families."
So far, she says the agency has received 1,192 complaints about
imported drywall. Florida, Louisiana and Virginia have reported the
Tenenbaum says investigators have gone to China to meet with the
Chinese government and industry officials. She also said reports on
tests on the drywall will be released this fall.
She testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Commerce,
Trade, and Consumer Protection.
