The Baker School Board says its taking steps to make sure violence at Baker Middle School becomes a thing of the past.
Earlier this week education leaders held an emergency meeting after a teacher claimed a student threatened her life.
Board officials say Superintendent Estes Taplin laid out new directives for staff calling for more supervision of students and the creation of a safety task force.
According to officials, the task force will be responsible for reporting any incidents directly to the board on a regular basis.
"I do believe that the Superintendent is really wanting to make sure that our teachers are being able to teach our children to give our children the experience of learning" says Preston Gill, Community Relations Coordinator for Baker City Schools.
The school board hinted that Baker Middle School may be getting a new principal as early as next Tuesday.
