A California man is facing charges after he drove into a Carmichael liquor store, nearly missing the clerk who was behind the cash register waiting on customers.

Robert Wayne Ring, 34, is under arrest for felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence after he rashed into the storefront of Kaybee Liquors.

Surveillance video shows the crash occurred just before 10 p.m. Friday, as the clerk was behind the counter with his back to the store front.

The video shows a white pickup truck slamming into the store, shattering glass and coming within inches of the clerk.

A witness who identified himself only as Kurt said that the driver and his passenger appeared wide-eyed and stunned after the crash.

He said they drove out and away from the store seconds later.

Ring lives near the store and because a witness gave officers a license plate number, they arrested him soon after.

The clerk was treated at a hospital for minor injuries that were caused by falling debris.

That's a terrible accident and thankfully Clerk was safe by inches. Security camera footage is very clear and installed in the perfect place. This type of car crashing every year taking lots of life from us and I can't accept such non-sense driving at all.
