NBC NATIONAL NEWS — A Florida man has been charged with driving his lawnmower under the influence.
James Gray is accused of riding a lawnmower while drunk and it was all caught on a deputy's dash cam video. According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the deputy spotted Gray going the wrong way on a street riding a red lawnmower with a yellow umbrella.
"We had to take this seriously. He could have hurt someone or himself," said Judge Cochran of the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
The arrest report said Gray's speech was slurred and his eyes were very bloodshot. There was an open cold beer in the cup holder of the mower, according to authorities.
After checking his arrest history, the deputy learned Gray's license has been revoked.
"During a regular background check the deputy learned that he previously arrested four times for DUI," said Cochran.
Officials said Gray had a blood alcohol level of 0.147 percent.
The state attorney's office said because of Gray's prior history, his arrest could be considered a third-degree felony. Gray is in the Marion County Jail being held on a $5,000 bond.
