OSHKOSH, WI (NBC NEWS) — An ice fishing contest in Wisconsin got a little wetter than expected on the ice. 36 vehicles broke through the ice on Lake Winnebago, Saturday.

Officials say they were parked too close together on some very thin ice. Four vehicles were submerged more than halfway, and 14 were in to the top of their wheels. The rest were somewhere in between. The ice was about a foot thick.
