BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) -- Two-year-old Kelli Guillory suffers from an extremely rare disorder called VLCAD. In the first two years of her life, she's been to the hospital 27 times. There are others like Kelli.

Mitochondrial diseases affect people all over the world, and often times, the disorders are so rare their cures have yet to be found. Louisiana celebrates Rare Disease Day for the first time ever on Monday February 28th.

Go to Raising Canes on Perkins Rd and let them know you are there for Rare Disease Day! 15% of all your orders will go to United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation!! There will be a raffle with great prizes between six to seven. Must be present to win!!!

You could help find a cure just by buying a meal.

"It feels amazing. It's great," says organizer Jennifer Guillory. "People care and you don't see that often, but you see it. You just have to look for it."

See our events page for directons:

Guillory wanted to say a special thanks to all of the businesses that donated to the raffle. Special thanks to: Bally Total Fitness, P.F. Changs, Kona Grill, Truly Free Bakery, Flemings Steakhouse, Whole Foods, Merl Norman, Canes, Our Daily Bread, and Bows by Amy
