Los Angeles, CA (KTLA) -- Police were searching for a 4-year-old boy on Wednesday who was allegedly kidnapped by his mother from his foster mom's residence in Pomona, authorities said.

Juana Maria Corrigan abandoned her son, Joshua Saul Corrigan, last year and went to Mexico, a news release from the Pomona Police Department stated. As a result, she had "lost her parental rights," police said.

The boy was staying with his foster mother at a home in the 700 block of East Third Street, when Corrigan went to the residence late Tuesday afternoon and claimed she had received permission from social workers to visit her son, according to the release.

After the foster mother declined her request, Corrigan allegedly threatened to harm the boy if he was not released to her, police said in the release.

Reluctantly, the foster mom — who is related to Corrigan — let her take the child, according to the release.

State officials have not issued an Amber Alert since no vehicle was involved, according to Sgt. Marcus Perez with the Pomona Police Department.

Corrigan, 21, was described by police as Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, according to the release.

The child was described as Hispanic, 3 feet 8 inches tall, about 45 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees Corrigan and the boy was urged to contact 911.
