BRPD officer arrested for extortion

State Police arrested Corporal Donald Bailey.

He's accused of extorting money from a prison inmate, in exchange for having the charges dropped.

Troopers set up a sting where Bailey thought he was getting an inmate released.

During the cash exchange, state police arrested Bailey.

Bailey is out of jail on a $10,000 bond.

He faces malfeasance and corruption charges.

Bailey is a 14 year veteran of the department.
