BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) -- Home sales in Baton Rouge are down, this coming from the American Association of Realtors. They say sales in the capital city are down almost four percent from this time last year.

Although sales are slow, the average home value is about the same as around this time last year, sitting at around $193,000. And we talked to one local realtor who says he isn’t really concerned with the slowing sales when it comes to the long term effects.

“The market seems like it takes its peaks and its valleys, so it seems like a normal pattern,” Scott Gaspard, a Baton Rouge realtor, said. “I think a lot of the sales were on the front part of the year, and we’re experiencing a slower time right now, though it’s normally slow in the fall, anyway.”

The Association of Realtor’s says sales in Livingston and Ascension Parishes are up from this time last year, but they saw drops in the average sale price.
