It can cost a lot of money to run a successful sports team, just ask some of the coaches in our area. Saturday, BREC wanted to give back to some local teams.

So, BREC held it's first Coaches Challenge Field Day. Teams competed for a $500 gift card to Red Stick Sports. This is to help with expenses for this up-coming school year. Coaches and athletes got to show off their skills in hopes to win big for their school.

"So the students, the kids, the coaches, and their parents utilize a lot of our facilities. So, we wanted to give them something fun, something team-building for them to do and also win some prize money," said An'Taria Curry, recreation manager of BREC.

Teams from schools including McKinley, Tara, and Broadmoor High came out for the event.
