BATON ROUGE (NBC33) - The Louisiana Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State commemorated Darwin Day Sunday.

Saturday was Charles Darwin's 199th birthday, and A.U. held a forum at the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge to remember the great scientist, they even had a cake.

While most were there to talk about his works about creationism, others were talking about his other notable discoveries such as how coral reefs are formed.

Darlene Reaves is an expert on Darwin's works, she said even though he had ideas that are still controversial, he wasn't such a bad guy.

Last year alone, over 850 Darwin Day events were held worldwide.
