NEW ORLEANS, La - Retired New Orleans Archbishop Philip Hannan, 97, remains hospitalized today, and, despite earlier reports the archbishop would be home for Christmas, the attending doctor is recommending he stay in the hospital until Monday, according to New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond.

Archbishop Aymond added that upon Archbishop Hannan’s release from the hospital, he will be sent to a skilled nursing care facility to ensure his comfort. Archbishop Hannan’s bronchial infection and pneumonia have completely cleared.

Archbishop Aymond will update the New Orleans community regularly and again, asks for continued prayers for Archbishop Hannan.
