Alternative scholarships offer options for college students

College students, if you need a scholarship, you might benefit by finding ones that aren't quite on the beaten path.

Various groups are offering scholarships for showcasing different skills or attributes. For instance, one student won a $3,000 scholarship by making a prom dress out of duct tape.

Tall Clubs International, awards gives a thousand bucks to men who stand six two or taller, or women 5'10" and above.

The National Potato Council gives out five grand to graduate students who work with potatoes.
