One of the suspects in the alleged phone tampering scheme at Senator Mary Landrieu's office, apparently gave a warning about the plot.
Sources say James O'Keefe told people last week, he had a project he was working in New Orleans.
O'Keefe, and two others, were in court yesterday.
He, Joseph Basel, and Stan Dai, appeared for private appointments with the pretrial services department.
According to authorities, two of the men posed as telephone workers. Wearing hard hats and tool belts, they walked into Landrieu's New Orleans office on Monday.
Federal officials say one of the hard hats was rigged with a tiny camera.
