Police are looking for a runaway cow that caused a crash in Covington. They believe the animal is injured and in need of medical attention.

It all started on Monday, June 3 at roughly 5:15 a.m. Dispatchers began receiving several calls from motorists saying that a heard of cows were walking on 21st avenue.

Officers responded to the area, but were unable to find the animals. Roughly 15 minutes later, they received a call about a car crash.

The crash happened in front of the Fielding’s Funeral Home. When officers arrived, they learned that the driver had struck a cow.

Officers searched the area and found tracks that led behind the funeral home. That’s where they found 10 cows.

The owner of the cows was identified. An inspection of the property revealed that a tree had fallen over night and landed on the fence that held the cows in the pasture.

The owner inspected all of the cows, but they were unable to identify one with injuries that would be consistent with the crash.

If you find an injured cow in the area, please notify law enforcement.
