WASHINGTON PARISH, LA (NBC33) — UPDATE: Officials have increased the reward to $1,000. We have also added a picture of the two animals as they were found. We have blurred out the bullet wounds, but it could still be considered disturbing to some viewers.
ORIGINAL: A $750 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for shooting and abandoning two pit bulls in Washington Parish.
The Humane Society of Louisiana reports that the dogs were found abandoned near the intersection of Pico Road and Highway 25 in Washington Parish. Both were suffering from gunshot wounds when they were found.
Officials say the area where the dogs were found is a common location for unwanted animals to be left behind. There is no parish-wide animal control facility in Washington Parish.
The two dogs were clinging to life when they were found. Unfortunately, due to their injuries, they had to be euthanized.
The Humane Society has partnered with the Tangi Humane Society to offer the reward for information that leads to an arrest.
If you have any information about this incident, call the Tangi Humane Society at (985) 419-9900 or the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 839-3434.
Below is a photo of the two dogs. It was provided by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office.
