BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — Man's best friend and his masters found a new way to cool off near the LSU lakes Sunday. It's all part of BREC's pets an paddling event at Wampold Park.
Dog owners got a chance to kayak around the lakes with their pooches, and help out a good cause.
The charity Friends of the Animals were on hand to showing off dogs up for adoption and collecting donations.
Event organizers say it was great way to have fun with fido and get a good laugh.
"There was a dog who decided he did not want to sit in the kayak, but he wanted to sit on top of the kayak behind his owner. It was great. It was awesome," Erin Sullivan, with BREC, explained.
"If you get them where they are exercising and playing. It's just like children. If you exercise them and they have more fun then you have calmer animals," Paula Schoen, Friends of the Animals director, said.
