The Humane Society of Louisiana said another kitten carcass was found Saturday on the Crescent City Connection.

The organization said local animal advocate Liz Newman received a call from a friend who saw the carcass on the bridge.

Newman passed along the information to the Humane Society of Louisiana, and group Executive Director Jeff Dorson said he drove to the scene and took a picture.

WDSU has chosen not to release the picture due to its graphic nature.

“Kittens don't crawl onto bridges. They are deliberately thrown out into traffic,” Dorson said. “I may be exaggerating, but it seems that half of our population cares about the welfare of animals and goes out of their way to help and protect them while the other half goes out of their way to torment and kill them. If anyone has a kitten, cat, puppy or dog they wish to surrender, all they have to do is drive to the nearest shelter and drop it off. They don't have to go to such extreme measures to take the life of an innocent and defenseless animal. I plan on returning to the scene, remove the carcass and give it a proper burial. Another way to prevent the unwanted birth of kittens is to simply spay or neuter adult cats.”

According to Newman and the group, this is the second kitten to get run over on the Crescent City Connection this week.
