Family dog dies from smoke inhalation due to kitchen fire

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A dog died today after inhaling too much smoke caused by a kitchen fire.
The St. George Fire Department reports that the blaze happened at an apartment complex located on Lakes Blvd. in Baton Rouge. Although the fire was quickly extinguished and was limited to the kitchen, there was heavy smoke damage caused throughout the two-story complex.
Two occupants of the home managed to escape unharmed. However, the dog passed away.
The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
