If a dragon was on your Christmas list, odds are you found your way to the Lamar Dixon Expo Center this weekend.

Exotic animals filled the room for Repticon, an expo dedicated to reptiles and other unusual pets.

There were businesses from as close as Baton Rouge and as far away as Florida selling pets and supplies.

Lots of people came just to look, to see the snakes, tarantulas, and even dragons. Not the magical, fire-breathing kind, but the small reptiles you can keep in your home.

"These guys are really docile, they're very friendly," said Tom DeWerff, whose family runs Dramatic Dragonz in Prairieville. "They're easy-going, kind of like puppy dogs with scales. Except, you don't have to worry about them barking, or biting, or pooping on your rug, or chewing up your furniture."

Reptiles are one of the fastest growing types of pets. According to the American Pet Products Association, almost 6 million families have a scaly friend living in their home.
