CAA launches lost pet search tool
COMPANION ANIMAL ALLIANCE, Baton Rouge, LA — In order to help people find their pets, CAA has started a new email address for Baton Rouge families to contact when their animal goes missing. It is firstname.lastname@example.org which can also be found on our website www.caabr.org. Everyone who writes will receive an automatic email with a list of suggestions. The first is to send us photos with information about the animal. We can share this with our staff. The last is to come to the shelter. While we will try very very hard to help, it is difficult to keep track of photos when 25 animals per day are coming in. There is no substitute for seeing the animals in person. Other suggestions include: Facebook, Craigslist, the Advocate, and neighborhood fliers.
It goes without saying that pets should be microchipped and wear ID tags at all times. We scan every animal for a microchip and automatically call the number associated with it.
Our goal at CAA is to save the lives of as many shelter animals as possible. A big part of that is returning lost pets to their families. We would like to see that number grow. A big task for CAA is to educate the community about CAA, not only for lost pets, but for adoption pets!
CAA is located at 2680 Progress Rd. near the BR airport..
Our hours are:
Tues, Wed., Fri., Sat., Sun. 11am – 5pm
Thurs. 11am – 7pm
