Alexandria Police charged a 13-year-old juvenile from Alexandria on Monday with one count of Cruelty to Animals after a video the boy posted on his Facebook page went viral.

On Sunday, the Alexandria Police Department received several complaints that a video of a male abusing a small puppy was being shared on social media.

The report and the video indicated that the abuse occurred in the Alexandria area.

Officers soon located the puppy at a residence in Alexandria. Animal Control remved the puppy and took it to a safe shelter.

Police identified a juvenile at the home as the suspected abuser, and he was charged and processed accordingly.

Prosecutors and investigators will determine any additional charges as the case moves through the prosecution process.

Alexandria police also stated that social media is not an effective way to report criminal activity and often results in the spread of “disinformation.” Officers reportedly spent a lot of time following false leads shared on social media.

The puppy has been seen by a veterinarian and is expected to do fine.

Well I am glad to see that Zackaryie Hawkins was found anc charged. And yes that is his name, if he can post his act on his FB page then his name shoudl also be public. Slapping a puppy and posting it is just wrong. You are old enough to know better, so Zackaryie, enjoy your fame.

Pretty sure social media is effective seeing as it WORKED.
