The adversity some gay teens feel may prompt them to engage in risky behaviors.A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds sexually active gay or bisexual high school students are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol, use drugs and have unsafe sex than their sexually active peers who are heterosexual. Experts suspect stigma and discrimination of gay and lesbian teens may be to blame, and suggest these students may need special support and health education.
The report is based on anonymous surveys of more than 150,000 high school students.
