A soldier remembered in Denham Springs

Denham Springs residents lined the streets today to honor a fallen hero. Twenty-year-old Michael Cote died on September 19th when the Blackhawk helicopter he was in crashed in Iraq.

The funeral procession went through Denham Springs and residents were outside holding flags and signs to honor his family. Hundreds of students from Denham Springs High School were among the people paying tribute to Cote. He graduated from Denham Springs High in 2007.

Cote was assigned to the 1st battalion, 52nd aviation regiment, task force 49 in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The helicopter went down near the Balad Air Base, about 50 miles north of Baghdad. The crash is under investigation.
