NBC NEWS — An osteoporosis drug may be able to help women with breast cancer.
Researchers in Austria studied nearly 2,000 women in the early stages of breast cancer. Some were given the bone strengthening drug Zometa, while others were only given hormone therapy.
They found the risk of cancer coming back was more than 30% lower among women on Zometa.
Experts say Zometa makes bone marrow a less favorable environment for the disease to multiply and spread throughout the body.
