LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA — Our Lady of the Lake Livingston, the state’s first freestanding Emergency Room, is opening its doors today, Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 11:00 a.m.
A freestanding Emergency Room is open to the public 24 hours a day and staffed by emergency physicians and nurses for the treatment of urgent and emergent medical conditions. Our Lady of the Lake Livingston Emergency Room will have the same medical personnel and diagnostic equipment available at the Our Lady of the Lake main campus on Essen Lane in Baton Rouge. Appointments are not needed to be seen at the facility. If a patient has to be admitted to a hospital, an ambulance is on campus to immediately bring them to the hospital.
“A freestanding Emergency Room adds a valuable resource to our family of services in Livingston Parish. This innovative model extends the presence of a major medical center in Baton Rouge by adding nearby access to emergency care, diagnosis and treatment provided by the same emergency doctors and nurses who are an extended part of the OLOL team,” said Scott Wester, Our Lady of the Lake Chief Executive Officer.
In addition to emergency services, Our Lady of the Lake Livingston’s campus also includes outpatient services such as a lab; imaging services such as CT, ultrasound, X-ray and MRI; and physician offices.
According to the American Hospital Association, freestanding Emergency Rooms are located in only 16 other states.
