NBC NATIONAL NEWS — It’s common knowledge that pregnant women should avoid alcohol, but researchers now have new information that further proves why.
A study was done in Belfast, Ireland, tested unborn babies' basic learning ability to ignore sounds, like the ticking of a clock. In the study, researchers found those whose mothers reported binge drinking took much longer to learn the skill.
Both the United States and the British Department of Health advise women not to drink any alcohol during pregnancy.
