NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The Walt Disney Company went diet today.
Company Chairman and CEO Robert Iger announced stricter guidelines for foods sold with the Disney label and at Disney theme parks.
These new nutrition guidelines call for reducing sodium, sugar and saturated fat among other changes.
First Lady Michelle Obama touts a major new initiative by Disney to help kids eat healthier meals.
Iger also said Disney programming will no longer be sponsored by junk food.
The Disney CEO says they're focusing on more fruits and vegetables and low-fat dairy products.
They're further reducing the sugar and sodium allowed in their licensed foods. The goal is to have the food at Disney meet the new standards by 2015.
