BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The American Cancer Society has launched a nationwide research study and it’s looking for volunteers from the Baton Rouge area.
The long-term study will examine why some people develop cancer as opposed to others. Those who participate will be required to provide information over a 20 year period.
In particular the American Cancer Society is seeking minorities to participate. That’s because so far research indicates a higher rate of fatalities among minorities and researchers hope to figure out why.
NBC33’s Alex Deiro has all the information about the study, what it hopes to accomplish and how you can get involved. She will have that full report coming up on NBC33 News at 5:00 p.m.
