ORIGINAL STORY: Three Lafayette Parish high schools are now on lockdown, according to a school system official.

"Due to anonymous phone threats of possible 'purging' or random shootings at Carencro High School and Mary and WD Smith Career Center both campuses have been placed on lockdown," said Angela Morrison of the Lafayette Parish School System.

Morrison says Paul Breaux is also on lockdown since it is close to Mary and WD Smith.

School officials are working closely with local authorities to secure the campuses and ensure student safety.

The school system says parents will be notified of any updates.
