Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff deputies investigated a vehicle crash that happened around 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at the intersection of Old Covington and W. Pleasant Ridge Rd. in Hammond.

An initial investigation revealed that a 2009 pick-up truck, driven by Russell Ott, 38, was traveling south on W. Pleasant Ridge Rd. when it failed to yield at the intersection at Old Covington Highway.

As a result, a 2007 SUV, driven by Sharon Pitts, 31, with one passenger, hit the driver's side of Ott's vehicle.

Sharon Pitts, Russell Ott,  and his 11-year-old passenger were thrown from their vehicles and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Driver impairment is not suspected at this time.

Russell Ott was issued two citations: one for failure to yield and one for traveling with an unrestrained passenger.
