Karl A. LeBlanc, MD, MBA, FACS
Dr. Karl LeBlanc, a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery, performed the first laparoscopic hernia repair in 1991 and has since written three medical texts that have helped change the surgical approach to hernia treatment and the use of laparoscopic techniques. LeBlanc is a native of the Lafayette , La. , area and a graduate of the University of Southwest Louisiana . He completed medical school, internship and residency at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport . LeBlanc holds a MBA from LSU.
John M. Whitaker, MD
Dr. John Whitaker, a board-certified general surgeon, has a special interest in the minimally invasive treatment of cancer and the laparoscopic treatment of acid reflux disease or GERD. Whitaker is a native of Baton Rouge , and graduated from LSU and the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport.
V. Keith Rhynes, MD, FACS
Dr. V. Keith Rhynes, an author and expert on transplant laparoscopic surgery, is a clinical assistant professor in LSU Department of Surgery. His interests include hepatobiliary surgery, hernia repair, breast cancer surgery and surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid. Rhynes was born in Paragould , Ark. , and grew up in Marksville. He is a graduate of LSU and the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.
Mark G. Hausmann, MD, FACS
Dr. Mark Hausmann, a specialist in bariatric and cancer surgery, currently performs a wide variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures. His special interests include fundoplication for GERD, laparoscopic colon surgery for cancer or diverticulitis and laparoscopic solid organ surgery for diseases of the adrenal gland and spleen. Hausmann is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of Dartmouth College and LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans.
Kenneth Kleinpeter, Jr., MD
Dr. Kenneth Kleinpeter, an associate in the Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge , has special interests in bariatric and breast surgery. He grew up in the area and is a graduate of Catholic High, LSU and LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans . Kleinpeter completed his general surgery residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, N.C. His affiliations include Alpha Omega Alpha, Resident Admission; American College of Surgeons , Resident Member; and the academic honor society Alpha Epsilon Delta.
Brent W. Allain, MD
Dr. Brent Allain, an associate in the Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge , has a strong foundation in general surgery and has worked independently and as an attending surgeon in an area teaching hospital. Allain grew up in Franklin and is a graduate of LSU and the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans . He is fellow-trained through The Fellowship Council, an international group of minimally invasive surgical practices.
