LSU and BRCC partner up
Many students use community colleges as a stone to four-year universities. "It's a lot easier for the students to come here out of high school to make that transition," says nursing student Lindsey Deroche.
At BRCC, that transition just got easier. BRCC and LSU sealed a partnership today, allowing students in certain degree programs to transfer all of their credits from the community college to LSU for their junior year. Students who study business, sciences, and humanities and social sciences can take advantage of the Bears 2 Tigers program. It will cut costs for the first two years of college.
At BRCC, 12 credit hours for in-state students cost a little over $1,200. In comparison, students taking 12 credit hours at LSU pay $2,867.
School officials say they hope other higher education institutions will follow their example, showing state lawmakers that colleges and universities are working together to do what's best for their students.
