PAINCOURTVILLE (WVLA) -
Sugar Cane farmers close to the leak are worried about how their crops will survive.
The LSU Ag Center says more sugar cane is produced in Assumption Parish than any other place in the State.
Most of the farmer's we spoke with say they never expected an oil problem so close to their livelihood.
Parts of that plume of oil and gas are settling on the crops.
Now - farmers are hoping the leak is capped before any more damage is done.
