Demolition crews donate items to Habitat for Humanity
An old LSU dormitory is getting a makeover, and that is good news for a local charity organization. When Arc Abatement demolition crews started gutting the interior of East Laville Hall at LSU in early JUly, they found a lot of old items that could be reused.
It was everything from mirrors and sinks to doors and ceiling fans. Project manager Debbie Stout wanted to salvage the equipment, so she called Habitat for Humanity. Now, the organization has started collecting hundreds of items from the old dorm, which will be resold to people who need them.
"There are so many people that don't have the items that a lot of us take for granted," says Stout. "Anything that anybody can do to help is really great."
Stout says there are still some things that she's trying to give away, like granite paneling that she hopes can be reused. The crew will continue to donate items until their project is done at the end of October.
