LIVINGSTON PARISH, La (NBC33) – Local and state officials gathered together this morning for the Livingston Parish Road Summit.

They received feedback from local citizens on which roads needed an upgrade. Some of the issues focused upon included the widening of the Interstate 12 overpass at Walker, the Hooper Road Bridge, as well as the resurfacing of several highways in the parish.

Walker Mayor Bobby Font was one of the elected officials that attended the event at the Walker Municipal building. He says the only way to fix all the road issues in the parish is through cooperation, “We have to work together and it doesn’t matter if the road is in my municipality or someone else’s”

The next step in the process is that the Livingston Parish will supply the Louisiana Department of Transportation with a list of the most high priority road projects in the parish. Next a traffic count will be taken of those roads to determine which of those roads is traveled on the most and which one is most in need of repairs.
