DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (NBC33) Women Outreaching Women (W.O.W.) is helping Livingston Parish celebrate the New Year in order to help battered women and children escape their abusive environments. The non-profit has turned their community thrift store on 4-H Club Road in Denham Springs into a fireworks stand. After being forced to close their doors earlier this year due to a lack of funding, the organization re-opened its emergency shelter this past Summer. But they are still facing some financial woes. The fireworks sale is their biggest fundraising project of the year. And while a representative from the group says they don't expect the fireworks stand to wipe away all their financial problems, the proceeds from the sales will help them to help abused women get back on their feet.
