Livingston gets grant money for drainage improvement
BATON ROUGE, LA (WVLA) Livingston Parish is among 55 cities and towns in South Louisiana slated to receive a total of $30 million in grant money. The funds will be awarded through Louisiana's Office of Community Development-Disaster Recovery Unit. The office is giving the money to areas hit hardest by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. The grants are funded through the state's Municipalities Infrastructure Program and is intended to help areas like Livingston make improvements that will help the areas become more resilient in the event of future disasters. In Livingston Parish, Livingston will receive almost $1 million dollars to improve drainage. Like many areas hit by the storms, Livingston suffered severe flooding after Gustav.
