Land may be donated for new prison and juvenile center

Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says there is land available for a new parish prison and juvenile detention center.
Gautreaux says landowners are prepared to donate 262 acres in the northwestern part of the parish; he mentioned this at Monday's crime committee meeting.
They're working to establish priorities for a public safety bond issue.
Gautreaux wouldn't identify the owners of the land, which he said is off U.S. Highway 61.
Mayor Kip Holden said he would object to locating a new juvenile court and detention facilities even farther out than they already are.
