BATON ROUGE, LA (WVLA) A huge crowd over at Memorial Stadium today.. not for a football game.. but for a recycling event!

EBR parish residents got a chance to rid their homes of hazardous materials like old tires, batteries and paint for free!

It was an effort by city leaders to keep our environment clean.

Organizers say if not disposed of properly---things like fertilizer, gas, and even cleaning products can greatly pollute our air, water and soil.

They say tossing an old stereo or TV can also be very damaging.
